Some odors, like cigarette smoke and pet dander, can lurk in your home for days, even weeks. To rid your
abode of such unpleasant smells, you’ll need to use a safe and effective fabric deodorizer. Your key objective is to eradicate the scent, not just mask it. Too many odor-elimination techniques simply replace one odor with another more perfumed and equally annoying scent. The added smells only get caught in fabrics, making them harder to clean. Moreover, most odor-masking methods offer only a temporary solution, and can even be a bit dangerous if harsh chemicals are used. So you may be asking if it’s possible to remove disagreeable odors without adding more air pollution to your home or residue to your fabrics. The answer is yes if you use an effective fabric deodorizer properly.
Most people believe that especially pungent smells in large surface areas like furniture, carpets and drapes, require equally strong chemicals to remove them. Your first reaction may be to use a large, bulky steam-cleaning machine. Unfortunately, these giants can actually do the opposite; they can steam-in the odors through the combination of moisture and heat.
Before you use a steam-cleaner, be sure to use a natural fabric and carpet deodorizer. Those that have natural ingredients are best since they pose little danger to you or your home environment. Unlike their chemical counterparts, natural fabric and carpet deodorizers do not cover the scent; instead the blends of natural elements eliminate them. (A great example of a natural fabric and carpet deodorizer is the Fuller “610 Nature’s Choice Odor Away.”)
You must try to figure out if the odor has crept through the bottom of your carpet and onto the pad. You’ll simply need to lift the carpet to see if there are any obvious stains on the pad. If stains are visible, then clean the pad and carpet backing with fabric deodorizer. If you cannot lift the carpet and you’re pretty sure the cause of the odor has seeped through, then you’ll need to use a syringe to inject fabric deodorizer underneath the carpet and into the padding.
Prior to applying a carpet deodorizer, you must to vacuum the area, and be painstakingly thorough. After you’ve vacuumed, use the carpet deodorizer following the instructions on the product’s label. Most deodorizers can be sprayed directly onto the carpet. After the carpet has dried, simply smell the area for any lingering odors. You may have to repeat this procedure several times before the odor has completely gone.
After the fabric deodorizer has eliminated the odor, then, and only then, may you steam clean, and relax in the knowledge that you won’t be setting-in any permanent odors.
You may use the same methods when cleaning draperies. Because many dry cleaners apply both steam and dry heat, you’ll want to use a fabric deodorizer on your draperies prior to dry cleaning. Simply apply a natural fabric deodorizer to the drapes using a spray bottle and give the draperies time to dry. Test for odors and repeat as necessary.
You may also use Fabric deodorizers on furniture, which is where smells from smoke and pets tend to dwell. Simply vacuum your furniture before applying a deodorizer, and then apply as directed. Quality deodorizers will not discolor the fabric, though you’ll still want to test the product on a hidden area. Also remember that natural fabric deodorizers are not apt to stain.
Some odors that seem to have permanently set-up house, like bad urine stains, will need extra powerful cleanings. In these cases, a good fabric deodorizer used regularly on the problem areas will neutralize the smells, and even prevent your pets from returning to the same areas as they will not have the odor marking the area. Using a fabric deodorizer habitually will keep your house smelling naturally fresh and clean.

People use deodorant because they want to escape from odor. They don’t like to smell sweaty to others.
They place the deodorant under their arms and when they perspire, there is a much more pleasant odor to behold. But, what happens to the user, if the deodorant is not good for them, what if they have an allergy to their deodorant?
Having an allergy would mean that you would probably see some visible signs such as: red rash, bumps, or inflamed bumps. If there is anything out of the ordinary occurring with the usage of your deodorant; that may also be an allergic reaction you are having.
This does not mean that you will have to stop using your deodorant altogether. It simply means you need to watch it carefully and stop using it for awhile to be sure. If you are wanting to be sure that the signs you have experienced are to your deodorant, you may have to seek the help of your allergist.
After carefully testing you, your doctor may say you just need to change brands. Yours may be too harsh to your body. If after changing brands, you still experience some problems, there are other alternatives.
You may decide to try some talc or some baby powder. Both will leave you fresh, and make you smell much nicer after a sporting event. Just place some powder or talc under your arms and it will also help eliminate the amount of perspiration that you are having.
Allergies can be a result of a number of things. It may not be your deodorant at all, but the soap you are bathing in, or washing your clothes in. When you have exercised and are sweaty, the chemicals used in the washing powder may react on your skin. It is more advisable to keep hygiene factor in your mind before taking food and in all routine activities of life.
If you have to give up your deodorant, remember there are many other choices available to you. So, check out the other alternatives, and stay cool.

These are two of my favorite deodorants on the market. I am a heavy sweater. I sweat when I play sports,
when I get nervous, and when I even think about ruining my clothes from yellow stains. I’ve tried all kinds of deodorants from Sure to Certain Dri. Among all of the deodorants that I have tried, these two, Degree and Soft & Dri remain at the top of my list of good deodorants. However, even though they are both effective, they are both very different.
Soft & Dri is probably more linked to being a feminine deodorant. After all it’s name is “Soft” and “Dri” However, in spite of its feminine name, its powder soft variety does not smell much like powder at all. In fact, this variety has more of a floral smell which makes the title a bit misleading. After the soft and dri powder soft scent is put on the skin, it sits and dries pretty quickly. However, sweating is the distinctive test with deodorants of all kinds. After sweating, the floral smell of soft & dri begins to diminish and you are left smelling a bit unpleasant with a hint of floral of course. If you can take smelling like a mixture of sweat with a bit of powder soft floral mixed in, this deodorant might be for you. Of course, everyone smells like sweat when they sweat. The key is not to smell like funk.
Degree on the other hand has a powder variety that smells just like power. It smells fresh and good to the last drop. When you put Degree on your skin, it takes a little more time to dry than Soft & Dri. However, as I said before, the real test arrives when you start sweating. After sweating with Degree on, the just showered powder freshness does begin to diminish as it does with Soft and Dri. However, Degree leaves you smelling like a different version of powder fresh and nothing like sweat. I would say that the scent is more of a heated up powder fresh. In the commercial for Degree, the slogan is “You’re body heat turns it on.” I completely agree with that statement. Your body heat does turn Degree on. Once you start to sweat, it seems that all of a sudden you can smell the deordorant’s scent like you never smelled it before. It’s as if you are not sweaty, you just have some scented deodorant on.
In spite of the fact that Soft & Dri does not have the same scent effectiveness as Degree does, I still like Soft & Dri and keep going back to it. One reason I do this is because the spray version of Soft & n Dri is wonderful. When I used that I never had to worry about yellow stains getting on my clothing. For some reason, this version of Soft & Dri prevented yellow stains from getting on my clothing. Another reason why I like Soft & Dri is because it does really smell feminine at least when you first put it on. After you start sweating, the scent changes a bit, but overall it leaves me feeling drier than I do when I put on Degree.
Degree is good because it’s scent lasts through the sweatiest of moments and its scents are truer to what they are called on the label. In fact, out of all of the deodorants I have tried which include Secret, Lady speed stick, Mitchum, Sure and other, Degree has the longest lasting scent out of all of these. However, I still keep a bottle of Soft & Dri on my desk when I want to feel pretty, feminine, and—soft.

Because it is new to the market, and I assume the company is eager for consumers to get a chance to try it,
we got a package containing two 1.7 ounce containers of this unique deodorant to sample. I tested the one for women. The following information is based on the results of my testing of this product. My husband tested the men’s version.
Degree Clinical Protection: Claims
This product is supposed to be among the strongest protection against wetness (sweat) available without a prescription. I was a bit nervous about using a product that was supposed to be very strong. However, it was dermatologist tested with clinical results and I found this reassuring.
It is labeled as having a clean fragrance, not overpowering and I found this to be true. The unique twistable dispenser was something that seemed unusual, allowing more control over the release of any deodorant (two clicks are the standard recommendation to dispense the right amount of deodorant). The promotional information claims that the TRIsolid formula acclimates to the body, plugging sweat glands and forming a deep level of protection.Another unique feature: it is supposed to be applied at night and will last all through the next day, even after showering.
Degree Clinical Protection: Quality
I was very happy with this. It did not sting, itch or bother me in any way. It felt good on my skin and I liked the extra advantage of the creamy, moisturing formula which does dry fairly quickly. It also stays on, even during a quick dip in the pool or while showering. It did take me a while to get the hang of the dispenser which allowed me to twist the bottom of the container and get just the right amount of creamy lotion to come out.
Once I mastered, that, I preferred it over the old version I had been using which was a solid. There are holes in the dispenser for Degree Clinical Protection which keeps the cream coming out in small pieces, not large, gooey blobs. I did apply it at night, as suggested, and found that it did indeed stay on when showering, if desired. I could also remove it by applying soap and scrubbing and drying off vigorously in the areas where I wanted to remove the product. Upon application, the texture is creamy but dries quickly. I appreciated the fact that it left no stains on his clothing and that the scent was pleasing, not strong.
Degree Clinical Protection: Price
Normal retail price is $14.15 for two containers, which may seem pricey but I thought it was well worth it. I found the product to be superior to others on the market, offering better protection for a longer period of time tthan comparable brands. Considering the time, energy and cost of washing sweaty clothing, this could save money in the long run. Customers can get a 25% discount at some locations if they buy this before October 31, 2007, including Amazon.com. It can also be found on Ebay but the price is comparable, probably because this is a new product and not easy to find everywhere yet.
Degree Clinical Protection: Target Customer
This is ideal for anyone who works outside or has normal or excessive amounts of sweating during the day, whether inside or outside. I found that it truly did provide more confidence for longer periods of time, making frequent showering unnecessary. It should appeal to anyone who likes products that have been dermatologist tested and offer strong protection without a prescription. The clinical studies should also be reassuring to many customers. The night time application, a very special feature, makes morning routines even quicker.
“underarm wetness is perceived to be a moderate or big problem for 27% of men and 21% of women. “What’s more, 22% of men & 19% of women say they need more protection than the average person. This product should suit those individuals very well.
Degree Clinical Protection: Overall satisfaction and summary
All in all, offers a major advantage over other products. The recommended application is two clicks from the dispenser and I found this more than adequate. Do be sure and remove the plastic film before using as it is the only thing that is not readily visible and would prevent the cream from coming out the tiny holes at the top. With over two weeks of use, there is still plenty left and the product lived up to its claims, causing no skin irritation, staying on all day, offering superior protection and, in our opinion, being very cost-effective. It wasn’t necessary to spot treat clothing for sweat stains, saving time and energy.

“Deodorant is overrated.” At least this is the statement made by various individuals I’ve encountered over the
course of my lifetime. Whereas it’s often considered a necessity by today’s young generation, the same self-awareness appears lost upon the aging population of the office workplace. Here in California, a hot day can easily mean a moist afternoon and dark patches on the dress shirts of fellow co-workers. Not too uncommon, the air can dissipate with the heat from the natural aroma of the office fauna to the muggy thickness of a higher humidity. It’s on these grounds that office buddies finally get to know each other in the most undesirable way. When it comes to applying deodorant, it’s important to remember that it’s not that you need it. More so, it’s that the people you treasure and share space with demand that you use it.
There are many common brand names of deodorant that can be found in the business bags and on the tables of the respectful few. For men, there’s always Old Spice, Arm & Hammer, Degree, Axe, Mitchum, and Ralph Lauren to name a few. For women, the aisle appears just as lavish full of a selection that includes brand names like Dove, Avon, Crystal, Pino Silvestre, Clinique, and etc. Likewise for women, specialty stores like The Body Shop and Bath & Body Works appear ever so eager to provide suitable alternatives for those who are discontent in buying the generic stick from the local department store.
Altogether, it seems clear that limited selection is not a valid hindering factor in regards to what ought to be a social norm in society.
A recent radio program addressed the concept of smell to the owner of the scent. Here the broadcaster cited that a scientific study had come to show that a person who is able to smell his own scent actually perceives it to be several times less distinct than the perception of another. It’s common knowledge that everyone has a certain smell that radiates from them. Naturally, each person is more prone to become familiar to his own smell and to find it more appealing than that of others. Social norms also dictate that a person isn’t likely to inform another if they are indeed radiating a repulsive scent that is relatively tolerable. This factor will often lead to several misinformed persons who will go about their duties unaware that their scent is having a charismatic impact on their surroundings.
In conclusion, be courteous to your fellow man! Wear deodorant at all times!
